Frequently Asked Questions

Learn How it Works!

CAN I USE MY INSURANCE TO PAY FOR TREATMENT?

At Physio PR, we are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois as well as Medicare.

For out of network services, payment is due at the time of service, however we can provide you with an invoice for submission to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept debit/credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and AMEX), cash, HSA, FSA, or check.

Why a direct pay model?

Most patients in need of physical therapy have insurance deductibles of $5,000 or more. Typically, most PT clinic bills insurance $250 per session, which  is the patient’s full responsibility until their deductible is met. At Physio PR, we keep our treatment prices  much lower than what most PT clinics bill to insurance so that you can use your HSA card, receive an invoice  for submission to your insurance, and receive exceptional care.

How long is a physical therapy session?

The initial evaluation may range from 60 -90 minutes depending on the condition and what is required.  The typical physical therapy session will be roughly 60 minutes.

How many visits will I need to be seen for?

The number of visits is dependent on the type of issue, the severity, general age and health of the patient, and other factors.  We base plan of care on the results from the evaluation as well as patient goals, time/budget constraints, etc.

While many larger PT clinic chains  require you to be seen 3x/week,  (and with many other patients at the same time) we typically see our patients 1-2x per week.  Total number of visits  tend to be less than our competitors over the course of care, which in the long run may result in less overall costs with us than with traditional PT practices when considering copays, deductibles, and the savings of having fewer visits.

What do i need to participate, and what should i wear?

We bring the resistance bands, strength equipment, stretch straps, training table, soft tissue equipment, etc. If you happen to own equipment/weights, we can use those your things as well.  We can make tasks more easy or difficult based on your needs.  Workout appropriate shoes and clothing are encouraged, but not required.

Do I need to see my doctor first?

As of 2018,Illinois is a Direct-Access state for Physical Therapists, which means we no longer require a physician referral to see patients. We have received extensive training to identify ‘red-flag’s, medical contraindications to exercise and training and when a medical issue is outside of our scope of practice. However, many people do find their referral for PT starts from a discussion with your PCP. If they provide you with a referral, please have available for me to review so I can better learn what they hope you will gain from physical therapy. Once you start with HAE/PT, we provide a plan of care for your PCP to sign off on, and update them routinely with your progress.

Why home? Wouldn’t I be better off at a clinic or gym with equipment?

There are definitely some things you would be better working on in a clinic setting. If after speaking with you, we feel you’d be better served in another setting, you will be notified.

However, meeting you in your home enables us to see where you are struggling. We can problem solve in real time the reasons why you are having issues with stairs, bed mobility, standing up from the couch, and more. By observing your function in your home setting, we can make concrete suggestions to make your home environment safer, as well as work on functional  mobility, strength and balance tasks that will impact your quality of life.

What is your cancellation policy?

Generally, cancellations should be made within 24 hours of a scheduled appointment. If a cancellation occurs with less than 24 hours notice, and the appointment cannot be filled, the patient may be billed a $50 cancellation fee.
