Meet Segun Olopo, Dr. of Physical Therapy
Dr. Olopo is a board certified physical therapist who holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has amassed thousands of patient care hours, and is eager to put that knowledge to use in pursuit of clinical excellence. He enjoys his role as a local resource to individuals struggling with orthopedic injuries.
He consistently seeks to establish and contribute to a culture built on maximizing patient outcomes and satisfaction. As a 7-time NCAA All- American runner, he infuses his fervor for athletics into his daily practice in order to motivate patients to push beyond their preconceived limits. While he has worked with multi-sport athletes of all ages and levels with great success, he takes pride in providing quality care to individuals with low functional baselines as well. Clinically, he applies a periodized approach to strengthening/ conditioning in order to safely overload injured tissues and facilitate long term improvements in function.
Dr. Olopo is trained in the Maitland approach to assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. He also utilizes the Graston Technique of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) as well as dry needling to aid in pain modulation, recovery and soft tissue repair, and has taken multiple courses on manual therapy, assessment of running injuries and optimizing movement.
He enjoys running, weight training, hiking, rock climbing, and foosball.
I have the great fortune of loving my profession. While, I find Physical therapy to be fascinating, it is the relationship with patients and first hand observation of their improving quality of life that gives me the greatest joy. As each year goes on, my life is more enriched by the patients I meet, and by those I get to know better with each repeat visit.
My Approach
I am honored by the trust my patients place in me, and work hard to provide the best possible care. I take It as my responsibility to my patients to stay current and informed on physical therapy and general health and wellness matters. I want each patient to feel cared for and to enjoy their visit. This means I listen to you, treat you with respect, and design a treatment plan based on current medical knowledge, and with your specific needs in mind. It is my privilege to care for you, and I am grateful for the opportunity.
